One of the responsibilities of the Office of the Clay County Property Appraiser is to determine the market value of all property (as of January 1 each year) in accordance with Florida law. A primary factor considered in estimating the market value is the condition of property and its improvements. Unfortunate events (i.e., hurricanes, tropical storms, tornadoes, fire) may cause damage to improvements, thereby affecting the condition (and market value) for assessment purposes the subsequent years.
